Carole Deighton

Hello!

Over the past 30 years and as a Chartered Applied Psychologist (non-clinical) I have had the privilege of working with a host of different people from various ‘walks of life’ – serving and ex-military personnel to Train drivers, Civil servants and University students.  Together we have discovered ways to manage stress and workload, change behaviours and to learn more effectively. My work was exciting (including opportunities to fly in helicopters and a fast jet!) with lots of tight project deadlines, creativity and team work.

Then…it was on a beach in Falmouth in 2022 that I took a moment to reflect on life, my own work, what I enjoyed most and the ‘next chapter’. I quickly realised that what I had enjoyed most over my career was supporting individuals to change and grow and seeing first-hand the incredible power of the mind and body to make these changes, with the right support. The result of this reflection, along with a lot of internet and soul searching was a decision to re-train as a Clinical Reflexologist! My year-long course with Wye Reflexology Academy was incredibly challenging and fulfilling involving Degree level Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology; planning and performing 100+ client treatments, and developing diagnostic skills to enable the tailoring of treatment protocols to the needs of individuals at all life stages – pre-birth (fertility), pregnancy, babies and toddlers, young adults, older age groups, to palliative care.  I graduated in March 2024 with a level 5 Diploma in Applied Reflexology for Integrated Medicine. This qualification is under the sector Nursing and Subjects Vocations Allied to Medicine, which means that I am trained to the highest level, and is in line with National Occupational Standards (OFQUAL regulated 120 credits). I am a life-long learner – please go to my website for an up to date list of my planned and completed CPD courses.

In terms of hobbies and interests – I am a sea kayaker (warm water!) and during the summer months paddle in Lyme Regis and Falmouth. I also enjoy yoga for its health and wellbeing benefits and the social connection that comes from attending group sessions – some which include laughter and amazement and others quietness. Then there are the two Labradors which provide a reason for ‘getting out in nature’!
