Hello and a warm welcome. My name is Richard, and I am a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am based in Yeovil, Somerset. Offering short and long term therapy, I work with adults and young people who come to me with a diverse range of presenting issues. I provide both face-to-face and online counselling with availability during the day and evenings.
In my practice, I embrace an integrative approach to counselling, which draws upon a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, person-centred and psychodynamic theory. Rather than adhering rigidly to a singular theory, I have recognised the value of incorporating different approaches to best tailor your specific needs. This approach allows for flexibility and adaptability as I work with you to explore and understand your experiences, emotions, and challenges.
I aim to refrain from offering direct advice or dictating actions but rather to inspire and empower you to explore various avenues for resolving your challenges. To provide you the autonomy to determine the most suitable and effective means of progressing and achieving your goals.

Making the decision to look for a counsellor is often difficult, and sometimes, it is the hardest thing to do. It can take a lot of bravery and emotional resources to take that first step. Therefore If you do get in touch, I will try to make the process as easy as I can.
Our first step together will be to arrange a 15 min telephone call so you can decide if I am the right person for you and if I can offer what you need. I will also email you my counselling working agreement to give you a better idea of what to expect during our sessions.
I have experience working with individuals aged 16 and above, gained from my role at Yeovil College, and am presently offering my time as a volunteer at Mind in Somerset.
