Sarah Hitchens

Hi, my name’s Sarah.

I offer individualised treatments for a wide variety of physical and emotional conditions using a combination of 5 element Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and western herbal medicine. Treatment focuses on both symptoms and the root causes of ill health so that your body can find its way back to health.

As a general practitioner I have spent the last 3 decades treating a wide range of conditions including skin conditions, musculo-skeletal problems, allergies, prostate problems, depression and pain to name a few.

I have a particular interest in supporting women with conditions such as:

  • Menopausal symptoms; insomnia, flushes, anxiety
  • PMT and period pain
  • Fibroids
  • Endometriosis
  • Hormonal acne
  • Cystitis and urinary urgency & frequency

Acupuncture Herbal Medicine

I qualified as an Acupuncturist in 1992 and over the last 30 years have worked in both private practice and for the NHS – including working and teaching in rural Uganda with the Pan-African Acupuncture Project.

I qualified as a medical herbalist in 2021 and now offer herbal medicine alongside acupuncture treatment or on its own. I grow, wild-forage and make many of the medicines I use in my purpose-built apothecary.

I also offer:

Workshops in hand-crafting herbal remedies such as; immune-boosting Fire Cider, throat soothing glycerites, tea mixes for sleep and calming the digestion, as well as tincture-making and topical remedies.

I am a member of both the British Acupuncture Council and the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and abide by their codes of conduct and ethics. I am also in regular, on-going professional supervision.

I have worked as a tutor for the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine and in 1998 completed training as a mentor/supervisor for health professionals.

I live in the Blackdown Hills with my family and love making ceramics, foraging, gardening, walking, cycling, experimenting with food fermenting (sometimes explosively!), wild-crafting, herbal medicine and all things creative.

Please note Sarah isn’t taking on any new patients until mid-March 2026.
