Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage RLD

Reflexology is a natural and non-invasive therapy that involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the feet, lower leg or hands. These points known as reflexes, correspond to different organs, systems and functions of the body. By stimulating these reflexes, reflexology can help to restore balance and harmony in the whole body, mind and spirit.

Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) – Sally Kay Method

The Lymphatic System is our bodies defence and drainage system. It clears proteins, cellular debris, pathogens, fatty acids and other particulate waste matter from tissues. When our lymphatic System is struggling we may experience ankle, leg and arm swelling, feel bloated, congested, sluggish or generally ‘unwell’. The Lymphatic system is one of the 14 systems of the body that is supported by suitably qualified and trained Reflexologists – other systems include: Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Immune, Digestive, Musculo-skeletal, Hormones etc.

RLD is an award winning foot reflexology technique which focusses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes (specific points) on the feet. It is a unique sequence that has been developed by Sally Kay, whilst working in Cancer care. It is based on the principles of full body Manual Lymphatic Drainage and works by massaging and stimulating specific body lymph drainage points (‘reflexes’) entirely on the feet.

The technique is evidence-based and was developed originally to support breast cancer patients with secondary lymphoedema (Whatley, J. et al. 2016 report experimental research evidence demonstrating a significant reduction in limb volume for clients). It has since been adapted to support patients living with both primary and secondary lymphoedema.
