NLP Neuro Linguistic Programming

NLP is a therapy which explores the relationship between the brain (neuro), language (linguistic) and the patterns of behaviour that we learn (programming). The therapist will try to educate their client in the positive links between these in order to encourage changes in behaviour patterns which will help them achieve specific goals and improve the quality of their life.

What can the client expect at the appointment

Initially we would have a chat on the phone, this way you’ll have a better idea of what I can do for you personally. Then, when you’re happy that this is the best way forward for you, we’ll arrange an introductory session. In our first session, we’ll get to know each other better and discuss what you’d like us to work on. We’ll identify and clearly define your goals, where you want to be and how you want to feel. Once we know where we’re heading, we’ll embark on the agreed upon techniques to get there. This could be conversational change, visualisation techniques, light trance work, Timeline therapy or most likely a combination of these.

What will happen in a session

This entirely depends on what the optimal route forward is. Generally though it will always be either a conversation or guided visualisation in one form or another.

How many sessions should the client need before they see a result

My aim as your therapist is to get you to where you need to be, swiftly and completely. I would expect to see improvement to some degree after the first session. On several occasions (chiefly with phobias), one session was all that was required.

What can the therapy help

NLP is often used to help the following:

  • Phobias and fears
  • Anxiety
  • Issues relating to past events
  • Addictions and compulsions (e.g. eating, smoking, drinking, substance abuse, gambling etc)
  • Negative/destructive thought patterns
  • Difficulty relating to others
  • Who would benefit from this type of therapy

Adults or Children who wish to improve their quality of life and to learn new ways to cope in previously difficult situations.
