I was fortunate enough to be raised in rural Vietnam for the first 8 years of my life where I experienced true ‘organic living’. We had no modern facilities such as TV, microwaves, fridge, running water and even electricity. All the foods were caught and prepared fresh and eaten for that specific meal. Our diet consisted of a bit of very fresh organic meat, lots of greens, herbs and spices, clean water and some raw goat’s milk. We also prayed 1 hour a day together with the whole family.

My grandparents and local neighbours used natural medicine and naturopathic techniques to heal whenever we needed it.  There were no pharmacies or doctors to be seen and certainly no chemicals and vaccines. Yet my great grandmother lived healthily until a ripe old age of 104 years old without any drugs or medical interventions. I don’t recall knowing any kids with food allergies or eczema and ear troubles.

When we moved to Australia, we still ate mostly a healthy traditional diet.  With a keen interest in healing I completed a degree in Pharmacy in 1999 but  I worked (as a pharmacist) alongside many great Australian naturopaths and learnt the natural ways of healing.   I undertook advance courses in herbs and nutrition but  I also completed training in clinical pharmacy. Since then I have worked in a diverse range of medical specialities and particularly in Cancer Services over the past 12 years in NHS hospitals, GP surgeries and private hospitals in Australia and the UK.

My interest in nutrition was triggered by benefiting from a plant mineral supplement in preganancy.   I spent three years  studying Naturopathic Nutrition through the CNM (London) which taught me about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Ayurvedic medicine along with western herbs and nutritional healing.   I realised that due to the complexities of modern day illnesses which encompasses multiple root causes, it’s not enough just to dish out pharmaceuticals and constantly treat symptoms but in order to achieve optimal health, we must address dietary issues, quality nutrition, psychology/stress, environmental toxin and use modern medicine only where necessary.

I love teaching oriental cookery and inspire people to experiment more with foods and flavours. Taking small changes to improve our health can be profound and I'm here to support my clients if they're ready to make that change.
